RENEWABLE ENERGY PLAYS VITAL ROLE IN EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

RIALTO, CA – San Bernardino County Emergency Operations Center has found a way to jump on California’s “Green” band wagon by using solar energy to provide power to their emergency communication command center. During Southern California’s Shake Out and Golden Garden Earthquake Drill, the use of solar power was tested for reliability and durability. The test went remarkably well and opens the door for the future use of solar energy. “The mobility of these solar generators enables us to use them in remote locations without having to worry about fuel. Solar generators provide superior power for sensitive communication equipment, as well as reduce noise and wear on our equipment, and our mobile command centers,” said San Bernardino County Fire Emergency Services Chief Communication Officer Zack Mullennix.

San Bernardino County Emergency Operations Center teamed up with Energy Acumen, a manufacturer of mobile solar generators and other independent energy systems. The Anaheim-based company manufactures three standard mobile solar units as well as customized hybrid solar generators capable of using both solar and LP or gasoline.
